ลักษณะทางสัณฐานวิทยา :

- Maximum length 2.8 m.
Generally slim; body cone-shaped ahead of flippers; long slender beak with no demarcation from head. Forehead slopes smoothly to long beak.
Gape straight. Eyes large and black. Body usually grey to purplish black dorsally, white or pinkish-washed ventrally; yellowish white blotches often present on body. Lips and lower jaws often white, with 20-27 teeth whose crowns marked by series of vertical wrinkles.
