41 cm. Large yellow bill with dusky tip, white forecrown and grey darkstreaked
crown, black mask to nape, reddish legs, greyish-white underpart.
Breeding plumage : bill orange yellow, forehead to nape and mask black,
upperwing grey, deeply forked tail.

River-living tern formerly records along the large river in continental
Thailand, now mainly extinct. Recent records are from Nakhon Sawan
(Bung Boraphet); Lopburi (Pasak Chonrasit Dam); Ubon Ratchathani/
Umnajjareon (Mekong River).
